Lippert Components’ Ground Control® TT automatic travel trailer leveling system a huge success at 2016 Elkhart RV Open House

October 24, 2016

Elkhart, Ind. — Ground Control® TT, by Lippert Components, Inc. (LCI®), was well received at this year’s Elkhart RV Open House. The industry’s first ever one-touch leveling system for travel trailers is now offered as a standard feature on several 2017 model units.

2017 units committed to feature the system include Dutchmen RV’s Kodiak Ultimate, Denali and Aerolite travel trailers, Keystone RV’s Laredo, Sprinter and Cougar product lines on select models, K-Z’s Spree travel trailers, Forest River Rockwood, Flagstaff and XLR will offer the system on select models.

With a newly designed LED interface and a first ever integrated tongue jack, Ground Control TT levels travel trailers in under three minutes by simply pressing the Auto Level button. Once the automatic leveling sequence is set into motion, a set of front and rear jacks stabilize and level the trailer using LCI’s leveling technology. The newly designed tongue jack, which LCI will also sell as a stand-alone product, also memorizes the trailer’s hitch height during this process, the first of its kind to feature such technology.

“When automatic leveling was first introduced to the fifth-wheel market years ago, the migration of the product from higher priced fifth-wheels to all fifth-wheel models, regardless of price point, was relatively gradual. Based on feedback, it appears the adoption of automatic leveling within the travel trailer market is going to move much, much faster than we saw in the fifth-wheel market,” commented Andy Murray, LCI’s Vice President of Sales. “This shift in momentum seems to stem from the RV community’s improved understanding of the value an automatic leveling system gives to motorized and fifth-wheel units. Given the high expectations for a trouble-free camping experience from today’s consumer, it’s been a natural, and expected, migration of automatic leveling into the travel trailer market.”

Lippert originally brought automatic leveling technology to the fifth-wheel market in 2009. Today, the majority of fifth-wheel manufacturers offer it either as a standard feature or as an option. LCI introduced its industry-first automatic Ground Control TT leveling system for travel trailers in April 2016 and expects to achieve similar results. An aftermarket kit is expected to be ready in spring 2017.
